Trichloromonofluoromethane
Trichloromonofluoromethane is a chlorofluorocarbon and is the first popular refrigerant used. Before this it was used in the drinking bird toy as well as a cleaning agent for low pressure systems. It was found to have harmful effects with the ozone and environment as such production in the United States was ended in 1996. Used as a reference compound for fluorine-19 NMR.
Trichloromonofluoromethane goes by the more popular name of freon-11 and the other designations such as CFC-11 or R11. It has a boiling point of room temperature at 74.79 F. Has a sweetish odor, colorless and a liquid.
